How will a skydiver's velocity change when a parachute first

A. When falling from a high speed, opening the parachute will cause the high speeds to slow down and cause you to fall slower hence why the parachute is needed to land safely

A, When the parachute opens, the air resistance increases. The skydiver slows down until a new, lower terminal velocity is reached.
