Point slope form is y - y1 = m ( x - x1 ), where m represents the slope, y1 represents the y value of the point, and x1 represents the x value of the point.

filling in the variables with the given information gives you

y - (-5) = -1 ( x - 1 ) which is also y + 5 = -1 ( x - 1)
