Answer: X = 6

Explanation:

Since the triangles are congruent (similar), then

8/24 = X/18

Cross Multiply

X x 24 = 8 x 18

24X = 144

X = 144/24

X = 6

so BD/BA = DE/AC

=> 8/(8 + 16) = x/18

8/24 = x/18

24x = 8(18)

24x = 144
