So if y=2x+3, you will substitute 2x+3 in for y.
3x+2y=12
Substitute:
3x+2(2x+3)=12
Distribute:
3x+4x+6=12
Combine like terms:
7x+6=12
Subtract 6 to both sides:
7x=6
Divide 7 to both sides:
x=7/6

Now we will use the x value to find the y value.
3x+2y=12
3(7/6)+2y=12
7/2+2y=12
Subtract 7/2 to both sides:
2y=17/2
Divide 2 to both sides:
y=17/4

Final answer is:
x=7/6, y=17/4
(7/6, 17/4)

Hope this helped!
