The colonists weren't concerned about whether the king was abiding the laws of England, they had their own concerns about how England kept changing the colonies' laws.

"The king has cut off America colonists' access to essential English made goods..."

It's the complete opposite: England cut off America's access from trading with the rest of the world and they could only interact with a British market.
