London dispersion forces are the weakest intermolecular force.

The unequal distribution of electrons about the nucleus in an atom induces a dipole in the atom. When another atom or molecule comes in contact with this induced dipole, it can be distorted and leads to an electrostatic attraction between atoms or molecules.
