Among fatal plane crashes that occurred during the past 50 years, 357 were due to pilot error, 60 were due to other human error, 135 were due to weather, 187 were due to mechanical problems, and 609 were due to sabotage sabotage

Determine the sum of the frequencies.

\begin{gathered} N=357+60+135+187+609 \\ =1348 \end{gathered}

The relative frequency is equal to the ratio of individula frequency to the sum of frequency.

Determine the relative frequency for pilot error.

\begin{gathered} \text{ Pilot error=}(357)/(1348)\cdot100 \\ =26.483 \\ \approx26.5 \end{gathered}

Determine the relative frequency for other human error.

\begin{gathered} \text{Other human error=}(60)/(1348)\cdot100 \\ =4.45 \\ \approx4.5 \end{gathered}

Determine the relative frequency for Weather.

\begin{gathered} \text{Weather}=(135)/(1348)\cdot100 \\ =10.01 \\ \approx10.0 \end{gathered}

Determine the relative frequency for Mechanical problems.

\begin{gathered} \text{Mechanical problems=}(187)/(1348)\cdot100 \\ =13.87 \\ \approx13.9 \end{gathered}

Determine the relative frequency for sabotage.

\begin{gathered} \text{Sabotage}=(609)/(1348)\cdot100 \\ =45.17 \\ \approx45.2 \end{gathered}

So answer is,

Pilot error: 26.5%

Other human error: 4.5%

Weather: 10.0%

Mechanical Problems: 13.9%

Sabotage: 45.2%
