A) Economic motives were primarily used to justify imperialism. Important and primary goals of new imperialism was need for cheap raw materials and minerals for manufacturing and markets. Imperialists believed that they deserved natural resources and cheap labor that was available in Africa. B) under such regimes, colonial governments and private corporations, found ways of maximizing income. Economic growth involved cheap labor, access to or control of markets for the selling or purchase of goods and natural resources such as precious metals and land, governments met these demands. Based colonies since the advent of the Industrial Revolution often provided to European factories and markets the raw materials, they needed to manufacture products. C) There were several negatives of colonialism for the colonized societies like resource depletion, labor exploitation, unfair taxation, lack of industrialization, dependence on cash crop economy, prohibition of trade, the breaking up of traditional African society and values, lack of political development, and ethnic rivals inside. These societies created new crops, tools and farming methods, which helped to improve food production. The improvements meant fewer deaths in smaller colonies and strengthened the state of life overall. In contrast to earlier imperialism, they could now live longer and have improved sanitation.
