first we want to get the speed of the car so:315÷3=105 km/hr

then we will multiply this number by 2½ (2hrs and 30mins), it will be 262.5km

OR:

it is a proportion question so you can do this very simple trick

315---->3hrs

x--------> 2 hrs 30 mins and then do:

2½ x 315/3

you can use this method on any proportion question.
