We will use the following formula:


variance=s^2=(\sum(x-\mu)^2)/(N)

First, we will find the mean (μ):


μ=(sum)/(N)=(1+3+1+10+1+0+3+1)/(8)=(20)/(8)=2.5

Construct the following table:

3 (3-2.5) 0.25

1 (1-2.5) 2.25

10 (10-2.5) 56.25
