Suppose a force equal to (1/2)acts on an object. The work done on the object inmoving it from 1 to 2 should equal the work done in moving it from 3 to 4because in each case the displacement 2 - 1 = 4 - 3 = 1 is the same. Do you think that this answer is true or false and be prepared to discuss the answer tomorrow

Work done on moving any object for a distance s is given by,

W=F* s

Where F is the force

From the above equation, It is clear that as long as the force acting on the object remains the same, the work done will be the same for the same length

That is for the same value of s, just like in this case, work done will be the same.

In this question, s=1 i.e. displacement is 1 unit when it moves from 1 to 2 or when it moves from 3 to 4.

Hence the answer is true.
