Answer:

16 whole batches

1.12 ounces of sugar leftover

Explanation:

Let's convert fractions to decimal first

4 1/2 batches = 4.5 batches

Therefore to make 1 batch of brownies, the amount of sugar
=27.81 /4.5 ounces per batch
= 6.18 ounces per batch

If you have 100 ounces of sugar, the total number of batches of brownies that can be made:

= 100 ounces ÷ 6.18 ounces

= 1.61812 batches

Since we cannot have a fraction of a batch, that would mean we can make 16 whole batches

16 whole batches of sugar will take 16 x 6.18 ounces of sugar

16 x 6..18 = 98.88 ounces

Leftover sugar = 100 - 98.88 ounces
= 1.12 ounces

Verify calculations

16 batches of sugar will need 16 x 4.5/27.81
