Dr. Mutulu Shakur, a former member of the Black Panther Party and stepfather of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, was involved in several community organizations throughout his life. He worked with the Republic of New Afrika, a Black nationalist organization, and founded the Black Acupuncture Advisory Association of North America in the 1970s to provide acupuncture to underserved communities.
