10 + 2x = 8 Can someone help me with this I forgot how to do this. Also please do a step by step please so i could use it to look off of for future problems.

x = -1

Explanation:

So you gotta work backwards a little bit here

Think about it as...

You have 10 of something, and you have to have 8 of them

Now typically you'd just subtract but in this problem it wants you to add a number

Soooo that means it has to be a negative number that you're adding

Ten plus what number would be 8? -2

So x must equal -1

2 x -1 = -2

And 10 + -2 = 8
