when you are conjugating -er and -ir verbs they are different because take the verb pedir for example, it ends in -ir. the conjugations for this word is

yo- pido

tu- pides

el/ella- pide

nosotros-pedimos

vosotros- pedis

ellos/ellas- piden

these ending differ from -er verbs such as

yo- o

tu- es

el/ella- e

nosotros- emos

vosotros- eis

ellos/ellas- en

really the only difference is in nosotros, and vosotros.
