The general equation of line with slope m, and passing points (a, b) is :

y = m (x - a) + b

In the given equation,

The slope is 1/2 : m = 1/2

through a point (-2,-5) : (a, b) = (-2, -5)

Substitute the value and put it in the general equation of line

\begin{gathered} y=m(x-a)+b \\ y=(1)/(2)(x-(-2))+(-5) \\ y=(1)/(2)(x+2)-5 \\ y=(x)/(2)+(2)/(2)-5 \\ y=(x)/(2)+1-5 \\ y=(x)/(2)-4 \\ y=(x-8)/(2) \\ 2y=x-8 \\ x-2y=8 \end{gathered}

Equation of line : x - 2y = 8

Answer : x - 2y = 8
