Using a variable for the price of each movie ticket, write an equation that models the situation above.
Answer : 3m + 3(5.25) = 42.75 let m represent price of movie tickets

Solve your equation :

3m + 3(5.25) = 42.75

3m + 15.75 = 42.75

- 15.75 -15.75 Subtract 15.75 from both sides

3m = 27

Divide both sides by 3

m = 9

Answer:

Therefore the girls spent $27 on movie tickets

Explanation:

If popcorn cost $5.25 for each and they bought three we do $5.25 x 3

which is $15.75 so to find out how they spent on tickets we do

$42.75 - $15.75 which will be $27.
