a spring has a natural length of 8 m. if a 32-n force is required to keep it stretched to a length of 12 m, how much work w is required to stretch it from 8 m to 20 m? (round your answer to two decimal places.)

Answer:

W = 1/2 K X^2 work stored in stretched spring

F = - K X restoring force of spring

K = 32 N / 4 m = 8 N/m

W = 1/2 * 8 N/m * (12 m)^2

W = 576 N-m work required
