A large bamboo plant is 3 times as tall as a small bamboo plant. If the large plant is 16.5 feet tall, how tall is the small bamboo plant?

The small bamboo plant is 5.5 feet tall

Explanation:

I (1) = 16.5 ft, 3 times as tall as II

II (2) = ? ft

Let the first be x and the second be y, Than

x = 16.5 ft

x = 3y

y = x / 3

y = 16.5 / 3

y = 5.5 ft
