x - y = 3

x = 3 + y

Put in equation 1:

4(y + 3) + 2y = 6

4y + 12 + 2y = 6

6y = -6

y = -6/6

y = -1

We have the value of y, then the value of x will be:

x = 3 + y

= 3 + (-1)

= 3 - 1

= 2

So, the solution of the equation 4x + 2y = 6 and x − y = 3 will be (2, –1)
