y = mx + c

where m = gradient OR slope

= 3

c = y-intercept

= 5

For the equation to have a proportional relationship, the value of c MUST BE '0’

Answer:

Proportional relationship between two quantities x and y means that the quotient y/x stays constant, i.e. that there is a constant c such that y=cx. In our case we have that y=3x+5 which means that x and y are NOT proportional.
