A Rational expression is a fraction in which the numerator and denominator are polynomials.

A numeric fraction is a common fraction

When multiplying or dividing numeric fractions, the numerator and denominators are simply multiplied or divided. For example,

2/8 x 3/4 = 6/24

By simplifying 6/24, we would divide the numerator and denominator by 6. It becomes 1/4

When multiplying and dividing polynomial expressions, We would apply the distributive property of multiplication. To divide, we would factorize the numerator and denominator.
