• You will create a picture of an object with 12 triangles (similar triangles) on colored paper. Make sure you include a title of your object on the top of your poster board and your name on the back.

• You will be making triangles using SSS similarity.

• You must use at least 3 different scale factors. Scale Factors Examples: 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 2/3, and 4/5.

• Use the handouts and grid paper to create your similar triangles.

• Cutouts must match those drawn on the grid paper.

• Handouts must be fully filled out with scale factors, proportions, and angles.

• Object posters should be colored (or using colored paper)

SSS Similarity

Step 1: Create a triangle. Measure and label the sides in centimeters (Each square is .5 cm!!). Label the vertices of the triangle CAT.

Step 2: Choose a scale factor.

Step 3: Multiply each side of the triangle by the scale factor.

Step 4: Create a new triangle with your new side measurements. Call your new triangle C' A' T'.(hint - it might help to measure one angle from your original triangle. Use the same angle measurements on the corresponding angle of your new triangle to help draw your new triangle.)

Step 5: Fill in the ratios, angle measures, and repeat for your 5 other sets of triangles. Side lengths must be different.
