The 1960s was a very violent time. Why do you think that the peaceful protests led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made a differences among all of the violence?

In these unprecedented times, I'm reminded of Dr. King's insistence on peaceful protests, and these words when he accepted the Nobel Peace prize in 1964: “Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. I am not unmindful of the fact that violence often brings about momentary results.
