Based on your knowledge of US History and the video clip, how do you think the existence of Jim Crow laws impacted the relief that New Deal programs provided for African Americans living through the Great Depression?

The help offered to African Americans by New Deal programs during the Great Depression was severely constrained by Jim Crow laws, which were state and municipal legislation in the United States that maintained racism and discrimination towards them.

These regulations made it impossible for African Americans to take advantage of New Deal initiatives like the Corps of Civilian Conservation and the Works Progress Administration since they denied them access to the same employment, educational, and housing possibilities as their white counterparts. Additionally, African Americans frequently got fewer resources and benefits than white Americans due to segregation and discrimination in the administration of these programs.

Due to the consequences of Jim Crow legislation, African Americans were not entirely able to benefit from either of these programs and avoid the ravages of the Great Depression, even if the New Deal did offer some assistance to them.
