Pip is certain Miss Havisham wants to adopt him and arrange for him to love Estella. He imagines himself as the shining knight who will bring happiness into their home and their lives. Pip becomes uneasy when Orlick points out the loaded cannon with the brass-bound stock over the chimney when he is serving as Miss Havisham's guard. Pip is once more enchanted by the location and the previous energies, and Estella is even more stunning than before. She warns Pip that his old friends won't approve of his new persona, which persuades him to stay away from Joe. She also cautions him to believe her when she says that she has no affection for anyone, not even for him. But Pip notices that the spell is now even more potent as he wheeled Miss Havisham around the apartments. He is urged to love Estella despite how she treats him by Miss Havisham, who takes pleasure in her retribution. Along with Sarah Pocket, who is still envious of Pip, Jaggers shows up for supper. Miss Havisham informs Pip just before he departs that she will let him know when Estella arrives in London so he might accompany her.
