Answer:

PEMDAS stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

The order that the works are put in, is the order that you would follow them in an equation. Lets look at the equation below

1+1 x 5-3^2 ÷(1+4)

The first thing we must do is the Parentheses, which are these things ( )

Our equation has 1+4, which is 5. So now our equation looks like this

1+1 x 5-3^2 ÷5

Next we must do exponent. Normally an exponent would be a tiny number at the top,but in this case we used an upward arrow ^, to show that the number is at the top of three. The number that is an exponent is how many times you will multiply a number by itself. 3^2 means 3 x 3, which equals 9. So our new equation means.

1+1 x 5-9 ÷5

Next, we do multiplication. In this sentence we will multiply 1 x 5, which is 5. Our equation now looks like this

1+5-9 ÷5

Next is division. 9 divided by 5 is 1.8. So our equation now looks like this.

1+5-1.8

The last two things is add then subtract. 1 plus 5 is 6. 6 minus 1.8 is 4.2

4.2.

The best things to do is to follow in order that the works are aligned in PEMDAS or use the short phrase Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally, to remember the order.

I hope this helped & Good Luck <3 !!!

PEMDAS stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction. To answer a question using PEMDAS, you would first solve any operations within parentheses, then solve any exponents, followed by multiplication and division (from left to right), and finally addition and subtraction (from left to right).
