Explanation:

this is nice! your 3y in the first equation and the -3y in the second equation will cancel out if you add the two equations together

you'll get

3x = 9

x = 3

and then, you can substitute it into any of the equations

for this problem, i'll substitute it into the second equation

-3-3y=3

-3y=6

y=-2
