The law of sines says the ratios of the sides of a triangle to the sine of the angles opposite them must be equal

Applying this law to the given triangle we get


(BC)/(\sin50) = (3)/(\sin 90)\\\\\sin 90 = 1\\\\\rightarrow (BC)/(\sin50) = (3)/(1)\\\\BC = 3 * \sin 50\\\\= 3 * 0.766\\\\= 2.298\\\\= 2.30 \textrm{ rounded to the nearest hundredth}
