Answer:

x = 8

Explanation:

The two angles represented by (17x+14) and (4x-2) are a pair of consecutive inner angles formed as a result of the transversal l intersecting lines L nd M

Since :||M, the sum of the measures of these two angles = 180°.

This means:

(17x+14) ° + (4x-2)° = 180°

Expanding brackets on left side:
17x + 14 + 4x - 2 = 180

Grouping like terms
17x + 4x + 14 - 2 = 180

21x + 12 = 180

Subtract 12 both sides:
21x = 180 - 12
21x = 168

x = 168/21

x = 8

Answer:

x = 8

Explanation:

(17x + 14) and (4x - 2) are same- side interior angles and sum to 180° , so

17x + 14 + 4x - 2 = 180

21x + 12 = 180 ( subtract 12 from both sides )

21x = 168 ( divide both sides by 21 )

x = 8
