Thus, AB + BC = AC

Using this fact, we can solve for x:


6x-3+2x-1=10x-18\\8x-4=10x-18\\8x=10x-14\\-2x=-14\\x=7

We can simply plug in x in 10x-18 to find the length of AC:


10(7)-18=AC\\70-18=AC\\52=AC

You can also check that AB + BC = AC by plugging in x for 6x -3 and 2x -1 and finding the sum of the two parts of the line:
