m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

Now let's plug our numbers into this equation


m = ( - 4 - 4)/(4 - ( - 1)) = ( - 8)/(5) = - (8)/(5)

Two negatives make a positive, so 4-(-1) is the same as 4+1.
