the first amendment regards freedom of religion and speech. the second amendment gives the right to bear arms. the third amendment protects against the quartering of soldiers. the fourth amendment protects against search and seizure. the fifth amendment gives rights to those accused of a crime, and gives the right to due process. the sixth amendment gives the right to a fair trial by jury. the seventh amendment gives the right of trial by jury in civil cases. the eighth amendment gives freedom from excessive bail, as well as cruel and unusual punishments. the ninth amendment protects unenumerated residual rights, and the tenth amendment states that things not in the power of the United States are left to the people and separate states.
