Answer: The 8th cranial nerve brings sound and information about one's position and movement into the brain. It is located between the base of the pons and medulla oblongata in the lower portion of the brain stem. This area between the pons, oblongata, and cerebelleum (where the 8th nerve is located), is called the cerebellopontine angle. The Cranial Nerve #8 enters the brainstem at the pontomedullary junction.

Simple Answer: It is located in the lower brain stem between the pons and medulla oblongata.
