After reading the information in Chapter 6, think of a behavior that you would like to change. How could you use behavior modification, specifically positive reinforcement, to change your behavior? What is your positive reinforcer?

Answer: A behavior that the person would like to change is procrastination. The person wants to be more productive and start working on tasks as soon as they are assigned.

To change this behavior using behavior modification and positive reinforcement, the person could set a goal for themselves to start working on tasks within 5 minutes of receiving them. Every time they successfully start working within 5 minutes, they would give themselves a positive reinforcement. The positive reinforcer could be a reward such as watching an episode of their favorite show, eating a favorite snack, or going for a walk.

The person could keep track of their progress and gradually increase the time they have to start working on tasks, until they reach their goal of starting work immediately upon receiving the task. By consistently giving themselves positive reinforcement, the person is more likely to stick to their new behavior and overcome procrastination.
