Along with the answer above, we know that Indigenous Americans relied upon bison herds for pretty much every daily resource. Clothing, shelter, food, tools. You name it they probably used something from the bison to help create it. So we can assume destroying the herds caused damage such as starvation, losing their homes, and overall just making the quality of life more difficult.
