Explanation:

Firstly you find how to make the denominator (The bottom number) the same. I personally multiplied the 4 by three to make it twelve. Then I did the same thing and multiplied 3 by 3 to make it nine. From there I add the numerators (top numbers)

9+7=16

Put them back into fractions to make it 16/12 and divide by two

8/6

Then simplify and you get 1 1/3
