8x - 1/3(12x+3) = 0 now distribute -1/3 to (12x + 3)

8x - 4x - 1 = 0 add 1 on both sides and subtract 4x with 8x

4x = 1 divide 4 to isolate x

x = 1/4

input 1/4 into the x of y = 12x + 3

y = 12(1/4) + 3

y = 3 + 3 = 6
