The length of a rectangle is 2 ft longer than its width.

If the perimeter of the rectangle is 60 ft, find its length and width.

Length = 2+x
Width = x

Perimeter = 2+x + 2+x + x + x

2+x + 2+x + x + x = 60
4x = 60 - 2 - 2
4x = 56
x = 14 ft

Length = 2 + x = 2 + 14 = 16

Length = 16ft
Width = 14 ft

Checking:
60 = 2*14 + 2*16
60 = 28 + 32
60 = 60
