A chemistry student wants to obtain 18 mL of a 53% salt solution. He currently has a 50% salt solution and a 60% salt solution on hand. How much of each solution will need to be mixed together to yield 18 mL of a 53% salt solution?

Answer: The chemistry student will not find any such 53%, 50%, or 60% salt solution. At least not in liquid solution form. Granular mixture maybe, but the measurement would NOT be done in milliliters.
