Explanation:

Move terms to the left side

x {}^(2) - 14x = - 49

x {}^(2) - 14x - ( - 49) = 0

Use sum-product pattern

Identify a, b and c in your equation and then find two numbers that when multiplied equal c, and when added equal b.

x {}^(2) - 14x + 49 = 0

factor

Write your equation in factored form.

(x - 7) {}^(2) = 0

Set the factor(s) equal to zero

Here the two factors are the same, so there will be only one solution.

x - 7 = 0

Solve

Rearrange and isolate the variable to find each solution.

x = 7
