Answer:

y=1 x=5

Explanation:

from the second equation

x=5y

then,when we substitute the equation

4(5y)+3y=23

20y+3y=23

23y=23

y=1

if and only if,x=5y and y=1

then x=5

We have the following system of equations,
{4x + 3y = 23
{x - 5y = 0

Take the 2nd equations and solve for x.

x - 5y = 0
=> x=5y

Now plug x=5y into the first equation.

4x + 3y = 23 ; x=5y

4(5y) + 3y = 23

=> 20y + 3y = 23

=> 23y = 23

y=1

We know that x=5y, we now also know the value of y. Plug it in,

x=5y ; y=1

x=5(1)

x=5

Thus the solution to this system is (5,1).
