(ST)/(RT) ( substitute values )


(x+2)/(3x) =
(16)/(40) =
(2)/(5) ( cross- multiply )

2 × 3x = 5(x + 2)

6x = 5x + 10 ( subtract 5x from both sides )

x = 10
