First, let's determine what (1/3) to the power of 4 is:

1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3 = 1/81

(1 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 1; 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 81)

1/81

Now what is 3 as a decimal?

We have to use the same denominator as 1/81 to be able to do a subtraction:

81 x 3 = 243

3 = 243/81

243/81 - 1/81 = 242/81

The answer is D.

Hope this helps! :) If you have any questions, let me know.
