Whether it be a friend, significant other, or a family member, all relationships begin to form with trust. Trust is relatively hard to find is society today. The world is full of liars and people who are selfish. Trust is defined by Merriam-Webster.com as “assured reliance on character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.” The problem in society today is that assurance of someone is extremely hard to find. One may think they know someone, but in reality they could be completely different from who they say they are.
Trust to me is knowing that someone will tell me anything, and the person will always be honest with me in good or bad situations. To earn my trust is through honesty, and if someone follows through on what they say to me. I have had friends that have bailed on plans with me, and I can say that I do not trust them as much as I did before. The saying “honest is the best policy” is very realistic. If one is honest with someone one-hundred percent of the time, even If it is not what they want to hear, they will have faith and trust in the person who is being honest. I believe I am a very honest man, and I am very proud of myself because of it. Sometimes it can be very hard to be honest with someone due to the face that we do not want to hurt their feelings, but being honest is what we have to do.
