Looks like the whole equation was


y = 2.5x + 3

So it's asking to choose a random x value, well choose 2 I guess. You'll plug that in where X is


y = 2.5(2) + 3

Now after we work this out, Y should equal 8 because that's the Y value right below 2 on the table. If it equals 8, then the equation is correct.


2.5 * 2 = 5


5 + 3 = 8

Since it equaled 8, the equation has been confirmed to be correct
