Solution :

In order to find the base

We apply the area of a triangle formula to find the base

We know the formula to find the area of a triangle is,

A =(1)/(2)XbXh

Here the area and the height is given

So the base is

12 = (1)/(2) X bX3

Substituting the values we get

(12X2)/(3) = b

8cm = b

A=1/2bh and b=2A/h so

b=2A/h =2(12cm^2)/3cm=8cm
