Judaism
Judaism never had much political power in Europe. There are several reasons why Judaism had little political power in Europe:
- Jews were the target of bigotry and derogatory stereotypes, which furthered their lack of political influence.
- Jews were not given the same rights and opportunities as non-Jews in many European nations, which made it harder for them to rise to positions of political power.
- Jews had to reside in ghettos and other prohibited regions, which hindered their capacity to engage in politics and rise to positions of authority.
- Being a minority religion in most European governments made it more difficult for Jews to influence politics in many nations since the main religion and its leaders correlated political power.
- Jews have faced discrimination and persecution frequently throughout history, making it challenging to advance in politics.
