Explanation:

Ratio of people with electricity to people without electricity is 8,000,000,000 : 1,000,000,000 or 8:1

8:1 = 100:x We need to find x. To do this, divide 100 by 8.

100/8 = 12.5

Then multiply the other side of the ratio (1) by that number.

12.5 · 1 = 12.5

Out of 100 people in a village 12.5 of them don't have electricity. (You can't have half of a person so you round it to 13.)
