The boy felt alone and misunderstood. He probably didn’t have friends and was depressed.

The boy likely felt isolated and misunderstood when he was labeled a loner. He may have felt like he was different from everyone else and that no one could relate to him. He may have felt like he was alone in the world and that no one understood him. He may have felt like he was an outsider and that he didn't fit in with the rest of society.
